Our Team
Hi, let’s introduce ourselves.
This isn’t your typical tourism business, we are a strong vibrant community that loves to share our love of the jungle with guests from all over the world.
Our team is made up of a community of passionate conservationists, who believe that tourism can be a way for us to fund our conservation work and support our village.
Meet our team!
Our team is always evolving as we grow - so when you get here there may also be some new faces for you to meet
-
Rian is the founder and the driving force behind Simolap Wild Adventures. You can often find him working on our organic garden, creating new flavours of herbal tea, or his favourite activity… fishing in the river near our guesthouse.
Rian is driven by the desire to make a difference for his community. His passion is creating a sustainable source of income that focuses on ethical environmental practices and balancing this with the needs of his community.
He started Simolap Wild Adventures to show people this incredible part of the world, to share opportunities with his peers, and to protect this part of Gunung Leuser National Park.

Ijal is a keen photographer with some incredible photos of Simolap and Gunung Leuser. He now travels back and forth between Simolap Hot Springs and a coffee shop that he has in Medan where he is an expert in coffee roasting. An incredible guitarist, Gianta is often found practicing his skills and singing local Karonese songs. If you’re keen to learn more about Karonese traditions you can ask him to teach you some of our traditional dances.
